Be A Johnny

I have spent the afternoon putting together resources for a professional development session regarding the transition to Common Core State Standards a task that isn't being met with enthusiasm.  What it boils down to is exactly this; how will educators embrace this huge shift of pedagogy?  The shift to me shouldn't be about accentuating the negative.  It should instead be about accentuating the positive.  How will this help our students learn more effectively; and, thus be better prepared for the world they will face.  A friend of mine shared a video yesterday on Facebook that exemplifies what this shift should be about.  If you're a Johnny, the shift will mean making a difference in the lives of your students.  If you're a Johnny, the shift will mean making a connection with your students brains and their hearts.  If you're a Johnny, the shift will mean making learning a personal journey.  Will you be a Johnny?
